When you hear the word "divorce," what comes to mind?

For most people, it's a bitter courtroom battle between estranged partners that ends in a lose-lose arrangement for both parties. At Agreed Divorces, we believe in a better path forward for our clients. Our experienced Austin uncontested divorce lawyers help partners move past the combative nature of divorce and find a more mutually beneficial, peaceful way to consciously dissolve their marriage.

What Is an Agreed Divorce?

In an uncontested divorce, both parties who want to uncouple agree on how to proceed. At Agreed Divorces, our Austin uncontested divorce lawyer provides clients with a better, more modern way to resolve uncontested divorces, a process that we call "Agreed Divorce."

An Agreed Divorce can build on the goodwill of two partners willing to work together to avoid unnecessary conflict. It requires a commitment from both spouses wanting to adopt a different path from the traditional divorce.

The Agreed Divorces Six-Step Method

Revolutionizing Uncontested Divorce

In an Agreed Divorce, we guide the client through the entire process, ensuring that children, property, finances, and assets are all addressed with creativity and customized court orders to achieve a legal and binding agreement. Our unique six-step process to help our clients and their partners navigate divorce effectively.

To learn more about our methodology, we encourage you to read our Process page. Here's a brief summary of the steps we take to help you dissolve your marriage:

  • Request Your Free Consultation

Our managing partner, Attorney James "Jimmy" W. Evans, is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He will sit down with you, thoroughly explain the process, discuss your options and find the best path forward.

  • File Your Petition With the Court

We file a divorce petition with the Court that is modified to remove any obtuse or confusing language. The petition is designed to make both parties more comfortable with the divorce going forward, increasing the transparency of the divorce process and lessening conflict between the parties.

  • Work Out the Details of Your Divorce

Texas law requires couples to wait a minimum of 60 days before finalizing their divorce. In the interim, we ask you and your spouse to fill out our questionnaire. The questionnaire helps us draft an Agreed Final Decree of Divorce that suits both parties' needs.

  • Draft Your Initial Divorce Decree

Once the questionnaire is complete, and the divorce decree is drafted, we'll run it by you for your review and revise it according to your preferences. Before we send it to your spouse or their attorney for review, Mr. Evans will personally look over the document, ensuring that you're completely satisfied and the decree is legally sound.

  • Review & Sign Final Documents

Once we complete the final working draft of the decree, both you and your spouse need to sign it. Our forms require that each spouse initial the bottom of each page to ensure that, when the court reviews the decree for approval, they can verify that both spouses reviewed and agreed upon it.

  • Finalize Your Agreed Divorce

We'll work with you to finalize the divorce, including helping you rehearse for the "prove-up," where you'll appear in court to give basic testimony. We'll also help you take care of any necessary post-divorce tasks, such as finalizing child support arrangements.

Our Pricing Plan; A More Affordable Divorce Alternative

Protecting Your Rights & Interests

At Agreed Divorces, we firmly believe that individuals should be rewarded for seeking a more peaceful resolution to divorce. That's why we use a flat-fee pricing model for our basic Agreed Divorce package. You can learn more about our pricing model by visiting our Compare Plans page.

The average cost of a contested divorce in Texas is $23,500 if you share children with your soon-to-be-ex, or $15,600 without kids.

In contrast, our standard Agreed Divorce package is priced at $2,500*, depending on your case and needs. Because we use a flat-fee pricing model, you'll know from the outset exactly how much our services will cost you. By choosing our standard plan, you never have to worry about hidden costs or consultation fees dragging you down.

In a traditional contested divorce, you engage in a high-conflict legal battle where the outcome gets decided by a judge. If you have children, they might be negatively affected by the stress of the divorce. A contested divorce pits partners against each other in a zero-sum game—someone always wins, and someone always loses. Frequently, both parties leave the divorce frustrated, feeling as though they "won" certain battles but "lost" others. This can set a bad precedent if the parties need to maintain an amicable relationship moving forward or work together as co-parents.

In contrast, an Agreed Divorce focuses on compromise and enables you to take control of the divorce process. We do our best to protect your rights and best interests while still pursuing a win-win arrangement for both parties. As a result, an Agreed Divorce is almost always less stressful than a contested divorce for spouses and children alike. Additionally, because both parties often leave an Agreed Divorce satisfied by the outcome, the parties can maintain an amicable friendship or co-parenting relationship post-divorce.

At Agreed Divorces, we offer more than just legal advice from experienced Austin uncontested divorce lawyers. We offer clients a revolutionary take on divorce—a better path forward towards a brighter future.
